SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, that is employed to validate if an e-mail message was sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the faking of emails generated with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this attribute for a domain name generates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send emails from mail boxes under the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it exists on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Any time an e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses checks whether it originates from an accredited server. When it does, it is sent to the destination address, but if it doesn't come from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's rejected. Thus nobody can mask an e-mail address to make it look as if you're sending spam messages. This approach is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your domains in a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you'll be able to benefit from the SPF protection feature as part of the standard set of services that you'll get with this type of hosting. Starting the protection will require only a couple of simple steps within the Hepsia Control Panel, so that even if you haven't employed this kind of feature before, you will not have any type of problems. Through a very intuitive interface, you'll simply need to type in the information of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your e-mail addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). As soon as the recently generated record propagates, no one will be able to forge any email address for that particular domain and send out emails from a server other than the one you have entered. This does not necessarily have to be our mail server, yet in case we manage your e-mails, you'll be able to enable an additional level of protection by selecting an option that emails can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only in the event that the domain uses our MX records. Our technical support staff will be able to assist you 24/7 if you have any questions related to this service.
